Databases

A number of the Film Archive Forum member archives provide access to all or part of their catalogues via online databases. Contents and access details are given below. There is no unified catalogue available for the Film Archive Forum collections overall.

  • BFI National Archive

    http://www.bfi.org.uk/filmtvinfo/ftvdb/

The British Film Institute's database of film and television programmes is now available online. It includes details of over 810,000 feature films, short films, television programmes, documentaries, newsreels and educational and training films, with synopses, credits and release information. It does not distinguish betwewn films and programmes held in the BFI National Archive and titles for which the BFI has information, but a guide to whether the film is held by the NFTVA is if there is an Archive synopsis given. There are some individual catalogues also online, including the Boer War, the Spanish Civil War, British Silent Comedy, the British Raj, Documentaries and The Troubles (Northern Ireland).

  • East Anglian Film Archive
